More about me
Leah Ginsky is the founder and vocal instructor at Sparkle Song Studio, based in Astoria, Queens. When she is not singing, she is painting, snuggling her cats, going for a run, or eating a snack. Her musical experience is wide and varied, read on to find out more!
Leah is a California girl at heart! Born in Los Gatos, CA, a suburb of San Jose, Leah always wanted to be a singer (truthfully, she wanted to be Britney Spears, but that didn’t quite pan out). She began her music career at age 7 as a proud member of the Congregation Shir Hadash Junior Chorus. She started learning clarinet in 4th grade, quickly followed by flute and guitar. Her middle school highlight was the annual choir trip to Disneyland! In high school, Leah joined the marching band drum line and learned bass drum and snare drum skills.
By senior year, she knew she wanted to make a career out of music. She was inspired by her high school choir teacher to pursue music education, but fell in love with the vocal performance program at California State Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo. There she founded and music directed an a capella group called That’s the Key, performed in 5 operas as well as countless vocal recitals, master classes, and choir concerts.
After graduation, Leah took the leap of relocating to New York with the man of her dreams where she is currently a member of the Oratorio Society of New York (fun fact: her grandma Dolores was also a member until 1995!). Leah is now planning a pandemic postponed wedding and is excited to connect with new students and watch her studio grow!
