Zoom Lesson Primer

This pandemic has caused a lot of inconvenience for everyone! It’s truly amazing that the whole world is in the same boat, not one person has been able to have a “normal” year. Fortunately, we are all adaptable, and modern technology has really helped us adapt more than we thought we could. Zoom to the rescue!

You don’t need much to have a successful Zoom voice lesson:

  1. Internet enabled device: a laptop, tablet, or phone that can connect to a Zoom call. While a webcam is not entirely necessary, it is preferred due to the performative aspects of singing

  2. Zoom link from me: you don’t need an account to Zoom, just a link! I will email this to you ahead of the lesson

  3. Speaker or other device to play music: it helps to have a separate device to play backing tracks (optional)

  4. Piano or keyboard: this is also not necessary, but is helpful! (optional)

  5. Headphones: for better sound quality (optional)

There are also a couple of sound settings to fuss with before joining a meeting that can help optimize your lesson.

  1. ORIGINAL SOUND

On a computer, go to settings and select audio. There should be a option to enable “show in meeting option to enable original sound from microphone. Make sure that is selected. On a mobile device, go to settings, select meeting, and turn on “use original sound”

  2. BACKGROUND NOISE

Select “low” for suppressed background noise

Once we are in the meeting, select “more” (three dots) and enable original sound

That’s it! I hope to Zoom you soon!

Sparkle on,

Leah
